This is the inspiration for the 2015 Selah Skateboard Sabbatical as a way to reach out and delve deeper into this family that I have chosen as my own via a transcontinental voyage that will have me at the very core of skateboarding in some of the epicenters of our scene right now with locations and terrain in which the concrete seems to have been poured by Team Pain them selves. Although the promise of epic wiggleboardin' is as sure as if Dolly Parton sleeps on her back, the main reason for this exploration is the community its self. We are an incredibly rare and incredibly special group of individuals which is something that is needed to be made self aware. As skaters we need to recognize the special opportunity we have been given to be in the pair of skate shoes that we are because no other collection of "like minded individuals" (i.e. sports teams, clubs, groups, etc) is as diverse and open minded as the one we take part in everyday. Make sure you don't take for granted how tight knit our scene can be at times because most people never get to be a part of something so closely cherished. The 2015 Selah Skateboard Sabbatical is about just that, celebrating skateboarding as the most unique and expressive art out there that also can boast as home to the best community as well. This tour will be a time to explore new areas that promise to hold new obstacles to conquer but most importantly it will be a time for my community circle to grow a lot bigger.
To aid in this quest of exploration and continuation of the skateboard community, I am incredibly stoked to announce that Predator Helmets has jumped on as an official tour sponsor and has generously donated some gear for the homies (a.k.a. you) that we meet along the way. This is skater owned, skater operated company that is looking to push the limits on how we protect our noggins while we schralp and I cannot be more honored to have them onboard. Look for photos featuring their product to be posted throughout the trip on our insta @beautyoutofbabylon as well as a full length Product Review to be published soon after completion of the tour. Thanks again to all the homies at Predator for helping to make this tour a much safer one!
