Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness...
This happened to me yesterday at one of my favorite local spots. An older lady kicked me and my buddy out for no other reason expect that what we were doing was technically illegal. She wouldn't say that we were bothering her in any way other then that what we were doing was not something that was allowed.
Perhaps this is what adds to the thrill of being a real skateboarder. Knowing that the activity that drives you and defines virtually every aspect of your life is not even an accepted practice but rather an illegal one. It adds an outlaw vibe which goes unfelt in most other scenes out there. This added danger so to speak draws us in as a community. Those of us dedicated enough to barge ditches, pools, schools, or roads full well knowing what we are doing may get us in legal trouble, are a band of brothers and sisters, united by the drive to skate and create beauty.
Beauty out of Babylon is dedicated to all those shredders out there who won't allow their art and free expression to be limited by what someone else says or thinks. I promote freedom to think and express oneself however seems fit on a wiggleboard, because if we all did it the same, it wouldn't be so rad!
JAH Bless and Go Skate!
