This week I was fortunate enough to be given the chance to attend Surf Expo 2015 in Orlando Florida on behave of Eastern Skateboard Supply in an effort to show our faces and promote the Skater Owned, Skater Operated mentality that is becoming increasingly smaller and smaller these days in the skateboarding world. This trip for us was primarily to represent Eastern to the masses, but being that we the #ESScrew are skaters, after all our responsibilities were summed up some really rad sessions went down in various parks in a few different states. The North Glynn Recreation Complex skate park in Brunswick GA, as well as the legendary Kona Skate Park in Jacksonville FL played host to our skate escapades on the journey down providing much much needed leg stretches to take place. Once the entire #ESScrew was re-united in Jacksonville, it was concluded as a whole that Lakeland skate park screamed shred and had each and everyone of us frothing over the promise of features that appealled to the pallet of even the pickiest of ripper appetites. Once word spread that Eastern was charging Lakeland, a band of brothers from Skate One Distribution, Absolute Distribution, Ocean Avenue Distribution, as well as Select Distribution rallied for the cause and made the 45 minute commute in pursuit of a similarly rad time and by no means were any of us disappointed. Words cannot be strung together in the correct order to convey what went down that night because there simply is no way to do it justice. Without producing some kind of visual proof for you out there reading this, there would be no way for you to see and appreciate the artistic endeavors achieved by those present during these sessions. And this is where the words stop and the I allow my photographs to convey our experiences for me. Enjoy the latest Photo Editorial to be published by Beauty Out of Babylon.
The 2 hour quick drop thru was no where near the time needed to experience this place in full. That time allotment could have easily been solely spent on the street course which overs endless line possibilities with unique features composed of different materials and textures. Its a trip for your feet and mind.
Lakeland Skate Park, Lakeland FL. This is a Team Pain built park which was only recently thrown down. Its as smooth as any place you've ever skated but this park offers far more obstacles and features then one would even think possible. Marble features, ledges, quarter pipes, launch ramps, bowls and coping on EVERYTHING making that dream line a possible reality.
I hope you've enjoyed these images half as much as I did capturing them and I am so stoked to be able to share some of the art work that was created by so many different individuals this past week down south in the orange state. Skateboarding is a magical gift that we have been given and it holds the power to form bonds between individuals that breaks down all barriers and transcends all man made stigmas. During this trip, good times were had and memories made between a group of guys who may not have much in common besides that piece of wood with some wheels bolted onto it, but I think that is plenty strong enough to build friendships on. JAH Bless y'all and get out and explore new turf, who knows what you may find and people you may meet!
I am a skater who lives in Baltimore, MD. I am looking to spread the love of skateboarding through both visual and written means.
