Growing up I got into skating street and never even considering downhill until I was 13 or 14. Once I mobbed my first slope there was absolutely no turning back; I was genuinely hooked. Street skating took a back seat as I began to find my self more and more mind surfing hills and less frequently concerned about spotting gaps or stair sets driving down the road. This continued for many years, where I had an interest and respect for street skating, but as far as participating in the scene or culture, I was absent. I am so very fortunate to say that street skating may have taken a back seat for a while, but thankfully it never left the car. Its always been a passenger in my "skate wagon" and now I am proud to say is reemerging more and more every day. Learning from the past is a must have trait and fortunately I was able to reevaluate how I had handled my love affair with street skating during my transition into downhill and not make the same mistakes on the opposite occurrence. Rather then isolate my self into the singular interest as it takes precedent in my skating life at that time, I now am trying to bring along all my skills and abilities and merge them into one fluid motion. Now as I drive down the road I am not just mind surfing a hill, but thinking of where I could throw a big standie to burn some speed so I could make that little ledge gapping some landscaping leading out of the up coming drive way. I have began to blend the "street" skating with the existing skills related to the downhill game. In essence, this takes all the joys and positive vibes from each discipline and blends them all together into a well balanced meal that all shred monsters deserve to experience.
